Global TaxAid & Accounting Inc. (“Global TaxAid”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet our obligations under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What we collect
- Information you give us when you contact us or request a consultation: your name, email address, phone number, the service you are asking about, your preferred time and language, and anything you write in your message.
- If you become a client, the information needed to do the work you engage us for, such as records for tax filing, bookkeeping and payroll. We will ask you to send documents through a secure upload link or in person — please do not send SINs, tax slips or bank details through this website or by regular email.
- Basic technical information when you visit this website, such as pages viewed and browser type, collected through cookies and similar tools.
How we use it
- To respond to your request and book your consultation.
- To provide the services you engage us for and to communicate with you about your file.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including requirements of the Canada Revenue Agency.
- To improve our website and services.
- To send you promotions, discounts and updates by email, only with your express consent (see below).
Consent and email (CASL)
We send marketing emails only to people who have expressly consented to receive them. Every marketing email identifies Global TaxAid & Accounting Inc., includes our contact information, and contains a working unsubscribe link. We honour unsubscribe requests without delay and no later than 10 business days. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. Messages about your own file or request (for example, confirming that we received your request) are service messages, not marketing.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted service providers to run our business — for example, email and newsletter platforms, secure file storage and accounting software — and they may use your information only to provide their service to us. Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may disclose information where required by law, for example to the Canada Revenue Agency or under a court order.
How long we keep it, and how we protect it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above and for legal record-keeping, after which it is securely deleted or destroyed. We protect information with safeguards that fit its sensitivity, including secure upload links for documents, password-protected systems, and access limited to the people who need it for your file.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, or withdraw your consent (subject to legal or contractual restrictions). If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
